Search Engine OptimizationSEO is the practice of improving how search engines discover, understand and serve useful public content for relevant searches. What an SEO programme actually touches

Technical access

Server responses, robots rules, canonicalization, redirects, rendering, mobile usability, performance and index controls.

Information architecture

Navigation, internal links, page hierarchy, descriptive URLs and the relationship among subjects.

Content and intent

Useful answers, original information, titles, headings, media and an honest match between the page and the user need.

Reputation and context

Links, mentions, authorship, local relevance, product data, reviews and the wider evidence surrounding the entity.

SEO and generative search

The base requirements still apply

Google states that existing SEO fundamentals remain relevant to AI Overviews and AI Mode. A page must be accessible, indexable and eligible for a normal Search snippet before it can function as a supporting link in those features.

This does not prove that every AI product uses the Google index or the same criteria. It demonstrates a broader principle: an answer system cannot reliably use information that its retrieval layer cannot reach or process.

Start with the earliest controllable failure

  1. Confirm successful public access and remove accidental blocks.
  2. Choose canonical pages and connect them through normal internal links.
  3. Publish information that completely addresses real customer or reader needs.
  4. Keep business, product and local details consistent with the visible page.
  5. Measure index status, queries, traffic and downstream actions without promising a ranking.
